Regardless of what you have heard about certian foods causing acne - there is no scientific evidence that there is a connection between diet and acne. This does not mean that you can eat whatever you want. You need to eat a healthy balanced diet to keep your skin healthy, which will help in your battle over acne. The following tips will help you keep your skin healthy.

Healthy Skin Diet

Water: Drinking enough water is very important in keeping your skin healthy. Water is necessary to provide the skin with the moisture it needs to function properly.

Vitamin A: Vitamin A is important for controlling the normal activities of skin cells it skin from becoming dry and flaky. You can find natural Vitamin A (retinol) in fish oils, liver and dairy products. You can also get Vitamin A in the form of Beta-carotene from carrots, yams, apricots, parsley, and spinach. Note: Vitamin A is toxic when taken in high doses, so be careful not to take to much.

Vitamin B-2: Vitamin B-2 is essential for healthy skin. It can be found in fish, milk, eggs, meats, leafy green vegetables and whole grains.

Vitamin B-3:

Vitamin B-3 improves circulation, lowers cholesterol, and aids in the metabolization of proteins, sugars, and fats. It can be found in peanuts, eggs, avocados, liver and lean meats.

Vitamin C: Vitamin C is important for the production of collagen, which is responsible for skin strength and elasticity. It can be found in citrus fruits, berries, tomatoes, peppers, and green leafy vegetables.

Vitamin E: Vitamin E is powerful antioxidant that helps to rehydrate the skin, reduce inflammation and speed up the healing process. Good sources of Vitamin E are almonds, peanuts, sunflower seeds, broccoli, wheat germ and vegetable oils.

Zinc: Zinc aids in healing of the tissues and helps prevent scarring. It can be found in eggs, whole grains, nuts and mushrooms.

As you can see from above a diet of fruits, vegetables, lean meats and whole grains will help keep you and your skin healthy.
